SPECIAL PROJECT
From time to time, I will discus certain projects that I feel are unique. This “Applebutter Project” is unique in several ways. First it was designed for friends in Maryland that have been making applebutter for too many years to remember. |
Making applebutter requires many hours to accomplish. It starts well before sun up, and has to be constantly stirred in a big copper kettle over a hot fire well into the afternoon.
With this in mind, the “Applebutter Project” was designed in EQ 6. Representative fabrics were selected and then print outs of the Wall Hanging, Fabric Yardage, Foundation Patterns and Templets were made.
The background block was designed from scratch in EQ6.
EasyDraw was used to get the shapes that made up the Block.
Then Representative fabrics were selected.
Now the Templets can be printed and the material for the block can be cut out.
Here is the block sewn together
In EQ6 you can design borders and size them.
So the next step is to put the borders and backing on
Now it is time to use the EQ6 Templets and cut out the individual pieces
After the individual pieces are cut out, they are machine appliquéd in place.
Then I stipple areas that I feel need quilted to keep the material from puckering
The last thing I do is to put my label on the back. This particular label, Marlen designed
in our 3D Embroidery software, and then I embroidered the text on a piece
of material that I thought fit the occasion.
